Removal (2010)

Cole appears to be an ordinary, likable man, but his life has been unraveling ever since he witnessed a horrifying murder-suicide. Following the traumatic event, his wife left him, he’s plagued by disturbing hallucinations, and his once-promising career has plummeted to a blue-collar job cleaning carpets. Just when it seems his world has hit rock bottom, Cole is assigned an overnight cleaning task at a grand Italian-style mansion far from the city. Accompanying him is Henry, the wealthy and condescending homeowner, who seems to take a twisted delight in making Cole believe he might have just killed his wife. With a reddish stain on the carpet, the sound of a knife chopping into baked rabbit, and a relentlessly ringing cell phone, the question arises: is there been a murder, or is Cole simply losing his grip on reality? Featuring dynamic camerawork and an intriguingly eerie soundscape, this gripping black comedy keeps audiences on edge, guessing until the final frame.
